AI or artificial intelligence is the simulation of the human mind into machines. In more simple words, to put and install human intelligence into machines. This is an unbelievable change in today’s world. If we elaborate and tell this new technology to a person who passed away about 50 years ago, it is possible to die again due to great shock and unbelievable change in society. This wonder is known as artificial intelligence. The term “artificial intelligence” was first used by John McCarthy in 1956, when he organized the Dartmouth Summer Research Project on Artificial Intelligence along with other prominent figures like Marvin Minsky, Nathaniel Rochester, and Claude Shannon, and organized a workshop at Dartmouth College to explore the concept of “thinking machines.” This was the beginning of AI, and now it is impossible to stop even the owners of this technology hasexpressed their fear that we should slow down this because it can be dangerous in the upcoming time. Elon Musk said that superhuman artificial intelligence could provide incalculable benefits but could also end the human race if deployed incautiously, and he also declared artificial intelligence a serious threat to the survival of the human race.
Anyhow, these are some threats, but rather than these, AI is a symbol of developed nations, and it shows that those who work hard can achieve unbelievable goals and change the world.
AI has a lot of positive impacts on society even though we can’t count them, but it will be a good try to count the changes made by AI and what can be in the future.AI has allowed us to access any kind of information easily and helps us a lot in education and study-related materials because it is available 24 hours.
AI has very fast decision-making technology, and according to research, in 2020 in America, it resolved an issue within 18 hours, which was solved by humans in months.
Nowadays, it also helps us with personal assistance, and some websites and apps help us with daily schedules and other daily life activities.
In transportation, artificial intelligence is improving day by day and provides new technologies to society for the betterment of humans, like the Tesla car, which doesn’t need any kind of driver to drive, and it travels according to the situation on the road but there must be an individual whose words will be following by the car.
These are positive aspects of artificial intelligence; there are a lot of negative aspects as well!
It lost the creativity of the new generation totally because in the past human beings were doing research on a topic, and within that research, they were passing from a lot of information, but nowadays we just give our topics to artificial intelligence like Meta and ChatGPT etc, and it gives us that specific information without any basic research.
On one side, artificial intelligence has given us opportunities for jobs, but it also takes a lot of jobs as well. According to the World Economic Forum, people lost 85 million jobs but gave us 92 million, and these 92 million are very skilled laborers, not just normal people.
Loss of ethical boundaries and privacy is a very threatening issue of AI to society. People are using it for bad and unethical purposes. A lot of cases have been reported on this issue.
Artificial intelligence has a very high cost of creation which can lead to economic inequality in a society, and economic inequality can also occur if a country has reached its peak like European countries and Asian countries are not that developed, so directly we are unstable as compared to those nations who saw the rise of AI. Artificial intelligence completely eradicates the interaction among people in society, and people don’t interact with one another as required because everyone has their own resources and uses them accordingly.
The future of artificial intelligence is very scary, and as I have mentioned, the owners have expressed their thoughts that the development of AI should be slowed down.
In the near future, it is hoped that there will be chances of AI lies and face detectors, and it will be a very great challenge for countries like Pakistan to overcome.
It is also hypothesized that in the upcoming 10 to 20 years, there will be life detector and cancer cell detector devices, which will work on AI principles, and again, this is very thought-provoking.
Rather than these, in the future, there will be mind reader machines; they will directly read the minds of humans and will show the result on the screen.
In conclusion, artificial intelligence is a wonderful technology that has changed our society completely, and it is improving day by day. It helped people a lot, and we are hoping that in the upcoming time, our country, Pakistan, will also see the rise of artificial intelligence, and people will use it for betterment.
